Obama’s plan could temporarily shield more than four million immigrant families from deportation. Texas and 25 other states are not happy about this proposed plan.
The states are claiming no president should have the authority to unilaterally change immigration laws.
“Suddenly we have this massive new cost that no one voted on,” said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. “One person in Washington made the decision and actually we think that’s fundamentally wrong.”
The Supreme Court is evenly split over the plan after the death of late Justice Antonin Scalia. Experts predict the court will avoid a tie.
The Supreme Court is expected to deliver their ruling in June.
