According to website Democrats.org, Obama will be in town on Friday, March 11, the same day South by Southwest kicks off its two-week run in Austin. The chairman of the Travis County Democratic party says the event will be at the Austin Music Hall and will include a special performance by an act that has yet to be announced. The Austin Music Hall will be a familiar place for Obama since he held a similar event there in July 2012.
A general ticket to the event is $250 and the price to co-host is $33,400.
A spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee says after the Austin Music Hall, Obama will attend a private fundraising dinner at the home of Amy and Kirk Rudy with approximately 60 supporters.
The last time President Obama was in the Austin-area was in July 2014, where he attended a fundraiser at filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s home. He also gave a speech at the Paramount Theatre and before he left, he made time to stop off at Franklin Barbeque.
