Austin For All verified the signatures before submitting the petition. The group went after Kitchen for advocating ridesharing rules, which it did not support.
Earlier this month, a few dozen people from across Kitchen’s South Austin district came out in support of the council member.
The group, Stand With Ann, says they appreciate that Kitchen has been to able to find a middle ground on every issue. Eight of Kitchen’s fellow elected leaders also came out against the recall efforts.
Council members from Districts Six and Eight skipped the rally. Austin For All has raised more than $46,000.
