According to TCSO public information officer Lisa Block, at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a man and his son were out walking near Onion Creek. They were trying out their metal detector when they came across some skeletal remains.
Block says they are unable to determine the identification or a cause of death at this time but says the Travis County medical examiner will perform an autopsy and sheriffs will continue their investigation.
Block goes on to say they don’t know how long the body has been there and they aren’t ruling out the possibility that this could be a flood victim but they cannot confirm at this time.
It’s still difficult to determine the size of the person due to deterioration but Block says it appears to be around five feet tall. The skeletal remains were found about 25 yards from Onion Creek.
This is an ongoing investigation and both Travis County Sheriff’s and the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office will have more details on this in the coming days.
